I’ll be honest partners 🤠, I really thought it had been a minute since I sent one of these. It’s actually barely been a week! My bad!
It is entirely possible I am using shopping to avoid The Horrors, but that’s simply none of my business. It’s also very close to Black Friday/Cyber Monday, or, as the avalanche of emails in my inbox would have it, BFCM. (And, while I have you, no, I am not working on any gift guides!)
Don’t worry, I have therapy tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are my latest hyperfixations:
1) Tanya Taylor’s new party dress brand Delphine
The holidays are historically the most dangerous time of year for my wallet, because everything is laser-targeted to me, with lots of lush textures and plenty of sparkle. If I had my druthers, I’d near-constantly be dressed like I was going to a fabulous party. And that’s the ethos behind Tanya Taylor’s new line Delphine. In interviews, Tanya has talked about Delphine as her alter ego, an It Girl always delivering glamour wherever she goes. I’d wear any single one of Delphine’s dresses just to get groceries, but I particularly love this flirty mini in bright pink and this Princess Di-worthy polka dot midi.
2) This Ralph Lauren Polo Bear sweater
Speaking of party mode, look at this diva!!! In the past few months, I have become obsessed with the Ralph Lauren Polo Bear, kind of out of nowhere, but I especially love this lush cashmere-blend sweater. Look at how cool he looks! How insouciant! Louche! I love him. I stopped by the store this past weekend and it took a lot of restraint not to go home with him. It would be perfect paired with…
3) This Dôen skirt
Dôen dropped the second part of their Holiday collection and, as I mentioned, Holiday collections are catnip for me. This skirt is a little on the short side for me, but paired with tights and flats, and a lush sweater? Perfection. And it’s got that big bow right above the flirty slit. UGH!!!! Just call it the Tyler Skirt next time!!!
4) ANORA
I haven’t stopped thinking about ANORA since I saw it last month. I think it might be my favorite movie I’ve seen this year? (It’s definitely top five.) Mikey Madison delivers an absolutely unforgettable performance, and much has been made of newcomer Mark Eidelstein, but don’t sleep on Yuriy Borisov. The last five minutes of this movie alone…
5) Mikey Madison walking her dog in Mugler
Speaking of Mikey Madison, I don’t want to be dramatic, but I think she might be one of the most beautiful women alive. Her styling (by Jamie Mizrahi!) has been impeccable of late, but I especially love this velvet Mugler dress she wore for Kimmel. And these photos of her walking her dog? Soooo c*nty. (Complimentary.) I’d have them framed, if they were of me.
6) Rachel Zegler in Wiederhoeft
Guys, you might be sleeping on Wiederhoeft, which I think is posed to be the next big red carpet label. Look at this dress on Rachel Zegler! The sleek, sexy vibes of the corset top, the drama of the beaded skirt – I would kill for five minutes in a dress like this. I don’t know that Rachel has ever looked better (styled by Sarah Slutsky!).
7) A dramatic velvet bow from Jennifer Behr
Clearly, my obsession with all things oxblood is going exactly nowhere. There’s just something so romantic about a velvety wine red, as seen on Mikey and Rachel. And we all know I can’t resist a good hair bow; as far as I’m concerned, Jennifer Behr is the reigning queen of hair accessories, so I’m picking up this drapey style during the brand’s Black Friday sale. (30% off site-wide from Nov 22 to Dec 4, no code needed!)
8) Fontaines D.C. “Romance”
Speaking of romantic: I am so late to the Fontaines D.C. moment and it’s going to seem like I’m doing it because of Paul Mescal (which, you know, doesn’t hurt), but! I read a profile of the band in GQ and I was super intrigued. Remember reading about things in magazines and then checking them out? Anyway. Cut to today, when the album has been on heavy rotation in my house. “In the Modern World” is a perfect track as far as I’m concerned.
9) Long-sleeved Merch
My friends over at 831 Stories very kindly sent me a package for their latest novella, A.C. Robinson’s Hardly Strangers (very sexy, btw, highly recommend), and it included this fake merch they created with Night Gallery for the main character’s band, Dog From Hell. I love it so much; it’s comfortable and it looks cool. It sent me down a rabbit hole looking for more long-sleeved tees, and do you know what I discovered? They’re rare in the world of merch! Everyone does short-sleeved tees or crewneck sweatshirts. More long-sleeved options, guys!!!
10) A Nespresso Machine
I stayed at my brother’s house last month, and he and his wife have this handy dandy Nespresso VertuoPlus machine. Now, something you need to know: Currently, in my house, we have no fewer than three appliances intended for making coffee. I have a Breville espresso machine, a French press and a Moka pot. But, hear me out: Not one of those is as easy as this lil guy! None of them allow me to pop in a pod, press a button and have a mug of hot coffee in under 30 seconds! So you can see now why I need a fourth coffee machine.
That meme speaks to me deeply.
